This exhibition offers a comprehensive look at the daily life of workers in Limousin during the mid-20th century. Through photographs, documents, tools, and personal artifacts, visitors will gain an immersive understanding of the working conditions, community life, and social struggles experienced by men and women who shaped the region’s labor history.

The opening day begins with a welcome speech by the association’s director, highlighting the significance of preserving working-class memory and the role of MEMOIRE OUVRIERE EN LIMOUSIN in documenting these stories. Visitors will receive a guided introduction to the exhibition, explaining the key themes, chronological organization, and featured individuals whose biographies are highlighted.

The exhibition is divided into thematic sections. The first section, “Daily Work,” showcases photographs, tools, and records from factories, workshops, and craft industries. Visitors will learn about the labor routines, production methods, and challenges faced by workers, providing insight into the social and economic conditions of the era.

The second section, “Community and Solidarity,” highlights social interactions, mutual aid networks, and union activity. Photographs, letters, and posters demonstrate how workers organized collectively, celebrated cultural events, and supported one another in times of hardship. Visitors will see firsthand how solidarity and cooperation shaped community life.

The third section, “Struggle and Advocacy,” focuses on labor activism, union campaigns, and efforts to improve working conditions. Archival documents and personal testimonies illustrate the determination and courage required to fight for social justice during a period of economic reconstruction and social transformation.

Throughout the exhibition, interactive stations allow visitors to explore oral histories, view digital archives, and engage with biographical narratives. A section dedicated to children and young learners provides simplified explanations and activities to foster early interest in local history and civic engagement.

The day concludes with an open discussion and Q&A session with the exhibition curators, who will share insights into the research process and answer questions about specific artifacts, biographies, and historical events. This exhibition is free to attend and suitable for audiences of all ages, providing an educational and engaging experience that brings the history of Limousin’s working class to life.
